Amarante Golf Course

Amarante Golf Course is located in this beautiful city, once invaded by Napoleon?s armies. Some marks of these invasions may still be seen on the Church of St. Gonçalo, marks of bullets and bayonets used in search for treasures.

In 1997 there is another major challenge for the region, which would also register as a success: the Amarante Golf Course belonging to Mota-Engil.

The architect Jorge Santana da Silva, managed to successfully gather the necessary ingredients: the splendor of Nature in all its beauty and calmness, with 18 holes of pure challenge, thereby quickly taking a prominent place in the national golf scene.

With a privileged view over the Marão and the Aboboreira Ranges, it provides a unique landscape and atmosphere.

Over the years multiple professional golf events have been organized, official competitions of the Portuguese Golf Federation, among other commercial competitions sponsored by major brands such as:

Mota-Engil, Audi, Samsung, Oni, Micromachines, Hp, O Jogo, BMW, Relais & Châteaux, Banif, Accenture, Bes Private, Lancia, Capital do Móvel, Gheisa Travels, Renault, UBS , among others.
With extensive experience in organizing golf events, we may be able to offer you the possibility to join our tournaments and highlight the image of your company, services and products, thus allying them to a booming sport.

How to get:

Coming from Porto
1. Take the A4 towards Porto ?Vila-Real.
2. Exit15 ( Km 57) of the A4 towards Amarante Oeste / Celorico de Basto.
3. At the roundabout, follow the direction Celorico de Basto.
4. After 800 meters turn right towards Fregim / Livração / Amarante.
5. 100 meters ahead turn left towards Fregim.
6. After 300 meters you will find a roundabout, follow straight forward.
7. Follow the main road for 2.7 km until you see the sign "Campo de Golfe"
8. Turn left and look for parking.

Coming from Vila Real:
1. Take the IP4 towards Porto - Vila-Real.
2. Exit15 ( Km 57) of the A4 towards Amarante Oeste / Celorico de Basto.

AMARANTE GOLF COURSE

At the  Amarante Golf  course services are varied, up to the greater demands of golf practice.

 Passing through the reception, the golf shop, the bar, the terrace, the restaurant, showers, locker rooms, rental buggies, trolleys or golf clubs,  the putting green, driving range and the equipment repair shop. At the golf school all may also take classes (for adults and juniors), get lesson packages or attend golf clinics for company activities.

With  enviable views over the course and with the Marão and Aboboreira Ranges as a background, Club House presents itself as a wide, modern and elegant space, the ideal meeting point for golfers and visitors. Equipped with a spacious living room, locker rooms, golf shop, meeting rooms, restaurant, bar and terrace, this charming resort offers every comfort for a golfer who appreciates service, combined with the friendliness of our welcoming  team.  At our Club House you may also see regular exhibitions of painting associated with "Art & Culture" concepts, among other initiatives ...

The Just Golf ProShop is a space entirely dedicated to those seeking the necessary equipment for golf practice.
With a new look, the aspiring player or the more experienced one, can always count on the technical advice of the coach João Silva, making sure that the equipment is the most appropriate choice at the time.

For clothing, equipment, accessories and other golf items here can be found the world's leading brands of golf: Galvin Green, Mizuno, Nike, Ping, Taylor Made, Adidas, Callaway, Areal Golf, Golf Pride, and Pride Golf Tee Masters .

19th hole - Bar and outdoor lounge.

The traditional 19th hole of the field, with a bar and terrace to relax and recall the best moments of the day. With a soft, modern decor, these spaces provide comfortable and pleasant environments, either to enjoy a drink or  a great meal with panoramic views over the countryside.

Learning the art.

For beginners or even experienced players, a project created with various learning levels, tailored for each, in order to develop the skills and techniques of golf.
Using a combination of verbal, visual and kinesthetic teaching, it  provides a learning environment without barriers, using the latest techniques for analyzing the swing. The teaching strategy is individually  adapted, with a diverse range of lessons, using the latest audiovisual movement.

We have training areas to determine your entire game. The driving range with target greens and sand, offers an indispensable realism, thus improving all your distances.
Why not test the condition of your short game on our putting green and chipping with 18 holes?

So you can practice all technical aspects your game requires, we provide the possibility to use different training zones:

DRIVING RANGE-16 places to workout on turf and synthetic rugs ? Covered area, 6 places for training - Several targets for improvement of physical distances- Area: 5 acres.

Currently under renovation, this training area is being improved with better conditions. Coming soon will be offered a longer space, with new metal roof and synthetic flooring, with training carpets.

PUTTING GREEN - 18 training holes in an area of 500 m2 - Here is also set a short game area for practicing your chipping and pitching .

Restaurant

With a special ambiance and modern décor, alluding to the practice of golf, this space is defined by having facilities that provide comfortable and pleasant environments, either to enjoy a drink in the Club House or a meal with panoramic view over the Golf Course or on the terrace. During the week, Tuesday to Friday, everyone can experience an excellent selection of local delicacies.

Coach João Silva

John was born in Amarante and has entered the golf world in 1997, when he was 16 years old.

In 2000 he achieves his main purpose, to be called upon to represent the National Team for the first U21 match:  Portugal - Wales.

Also got the Northern Junior Champion title ,  and  several Champion  of Amarante Golf Club titles, in 1999, 2000, 2002 and 2003.
After years of competition, always representing Amarante Golf club, he became captain of the team. Later, when he decided to become a professional (July 2004) he had to give this captain position up, becoming a member of the PGA Portugal.

At that time he was also a directive member at Amarante Golf Club (2004-2008).
João Silva managed quite successfully to  complete the three years PGA Portugal training  and is nowadays one of the few level IV golf coaches in Portugal.

Over the years he has shown  great passion and dedication to junior golf coaching, turning novices into true champions,  athletes who have  achieved outstanding results in national and international competitions.

A great coach for players of all ages and skills, from beginners to experienced players.

Developing all the  planning with the purpose of improving their game, using all the technical knowledge and the new technologies for analysis of the swing, either in Portuguese , English or French.
