Wine Routes

Casa da Calçada is at the epicenter of the demarcated region of Vinho Verde (green wine). We have been producing wine for more than a century and within our 50ha property you can find the oldest certified vine of the region. Visit and enjoy exclusive wine experiences.

Route 1 – Visit to Quinta da Aveleda with guided tour. Half day or full day option. Distance: 25 minutes.

Route 2 – Visit to Quinta do Ameal with guided tour and visit to Ponte de Lima. Half day or full day option. Distance: 1h15m.

Route 3 – Visit to two producers of green wine with wine tasting. Lunch and snack included. Possibility to ride to Monção and Melgaço, Guimarão, Aveleda and Braga. Distance: 30 to 45 minutes ; being 30 min the duration until Quinta de Aveleda and 45 min the duration until Braga / Guimarães.



The second largest city in Portugal awaits you. A mere 30 minutes from the Hotel you will find a vibrant and cosmopolitan city with a history and culture of its own. Visit the city’s most iconic places, take a cruise along the Douro River or visit the Port Wine cellars.


A day dedicated to the Douro region and its wines. Have lunch at a premium restaurant, Wine Tasting at Quinta Rabelo, boat trip on the Tua river, walk in the vineyards and take a ride on the most beautiful train line between Tua and Pinhão.


Braga and Guimarães are rivals. Not only in football but in their beauty and historical heritage. Visit the nation’s birthplace in Guimarães with a visit to the Castle, Paço dos Duques, Chapel of São Miguel and the historic center. In Braga, the city of archbishops, a visit to the Bom Jesus Church, the city center, and the cathedral are mandatory.
